The eucalyptus is a tree native to Tasmania (Australia). It has been used extensively to dry swampy areas and thus combat the reproduction of insect vectors of diseases such as malaria. Aboriginal people have traditionally used eucalyptus leaves to combat fever, treat wounds and to repel insects.
